This is a must for anyone who prefers the touch screen controller to the original remote series.

Positives: Integrates with up to 15 devices.
Easy to use touch screen remote control with optional features to add more buttons.
Works with radio frequency so you can avoid having to hold it aimed at the correct device.
Originally brought out in 2007, patches and updates have fixed nearly all major issues. You can simply plug the device into your computer to download the latest updates.
Negatives: There may be issues setting this device if you own a Mac.
The same software used for all other harmony devices is used for installing this device meaning that if you had problems previously, you may experience the same issues.
User manual is only available online by accessing the setup menu.

Logitech Harmony 525 Universal Remote

This easy to use remote from Logitech interacts with a huge variety of devices. It's part of the "5" series and has some basic features common to this series including:

  • The series uses the same basic software.
  • The screen will hold up to 4 activities.
You'll find that the Logitech Harmony 525 has a few extra teletext buttons on the base of the remote and is considered a newer, more efficient version that the original 520.

Positives: It copies the way your original remote worked so you should be able to maintain any special features.
Allows you to control many of your regularly used devices from one simple remote.
Lights up when bumped.
Sleek and modern design.

Negatives: The remote will automatically turn on all devices connected to it. This can get a little confusing if some of the devices are already on and some are off as the remote simply flicks them back to the opposite status.
Requires live internet configuration.
The help menu may be difficult to remove from the screen.
Some people find that this remote is hard to set up - can take quite awhile if you are setting it up with multiple devices.
